Evaluation with Generic Learning Outcomes

If the employer has invested fees and employee time in coaching, they are entitled to know that it works, and this has been difficult to prove in the past.

To monitor and evaluate coaching, where the client leads the process and learning takes surprising and often unexpected directions, we use Inspiring Learning for All (ILFA) generic learning outcomes. ILFA is accepted by DfES as a measure for informal learning.

What are “learning outcomes”?

Learning outcomes are what people have "learnt" as the result of an experience, programme or event.

In formal education, outcomes are often pre-decided independently of the learner, for example through the curriculum and defined standards. In Executive Coaching, goals are set at the beginning, and then learners drive their own outcomes.
